What is a printed group card?

Passing a paper card around rarely goes to plan. Half the team works from home, someone's always on holiday, and by the time it reaches the last person there's no room left to write. A printed group card fixes that: everyone signs one online group card from a single link, and we print the messages as a Classic card or an A5 Keepsake book and post it to a UK address.

Group cards, without the usual headaches

A card everyone signs should be the easy part of a send-off. Here's what usually gets in the way, and how we take care of it.

No more chasing a card around the office

Share one link instead. Remote colleagues, people on leave and friends in other countries can all add their message.

No more squeezing into the corners

Everyone gets room to say what they mean. Every printed card has a QR code on the back that opens every message online.

Something real to hand over

A link in an inbox can feel a bit thin on someone’s last day. A printed card or book is something they can keep on the shelf.

No need to decide straight away

Collect the messages first. You can add a printed version later, even after the digital card has gone out.

Pick the one that fits

A leaving card for a colleague, a retirement surprise or a birthday card from the whole family. Each one suits a different kind of occasion.

Option 1

A Card in the Post

A classic printed card just from you.

Sometimes you just want to send a proper card. Write your message online and we'll print it and post it straight to them, or to you if you'd rather hand it over yourself.

  • Folded 7 × 5 inch greeting card, printed with your message
  • Posted to the recipient or to you
  • Choose it when you create your card
  • QR code on the back to view your card online

Best for: Birthdays, thank-yous, get-well wishes and other personal moments.

Option 2

Classic Printed Card

The traditional card, signed by the team.

The messages that fit, printed inside a folded 7 × 5 inch greeting card. It's the kind of card that ends up on a desk or a mantelpiece.

A QR code on the back opens the full digital version, so any messages that didn’t fit, and every photo and GIF, are still there to see.

  • Folded 7 × 5 inch greeting card
  • The messages that fit, printed inside (how many depends on their length)
  • QR code on the back to view the full digital card
  • Your digital card stays available

Best for: Smaller groups, team birthdays, thank-you cards and personal celebrations.

Option 3

Keepsake Book

Space for everyone to share their heartfelt wishes.

When a big group has a lot to say, a card isn't enough. The Keepsake book is an A5 softcover with space for messages and photos, something they can look back through long after the day itself.

It holds far more than a card: the messages that fit, and a QR code on the back cover to view the full digital card, including anything that didn’t fit.

  • A5 softcover book
  • The messages and photos that fit
  • QR code on the back cover to view the full digital card
  • Your digital card stays available

Best for: Leaving cards, retirements, long-service milestones and large groups with lots to say.

How printed cards work

Four steps, and you only have to do the first three.

  1. 1Create your cardPick a design and share one link. Friends, family or colleagues add their messages from wherever they are.
  2. 2Choose your printed versionAdd a Classic card or Keepsake book at checkout, or come back and add one later from your card's page.
  3. 3Tell us where to send itPost it straight to the recipient, or to yourself if you want to hand it over in person. We deliver to UK addresses.
  4. 4We print it and post itGroup keepsakes go to print when you send the group card, so messages added before then can still make it in, within the format's page and layout limits.A Card in the Post goes to print as soon as you’ve paid.

Working to a leaving date or a birthday? Leave time for printing and delivery, and check the delivery estimate when you order.

What if the card runs out of room?

It happens, especially when the whole team gets involved. That's why the digital card stays part of the gift, so nobody's message gets left behind.

With a Classic card

The messages that fit are printed inside, and the QR code on the back opens the full digital card with everything else.

With a Keepsake book

The messages that fit are printed. Anything beyond that is in the full digital card, which the QR code on the back cover lets them view.

The printed version doesn't replace the digital card. They can go back to it and read every message again whenever they like.

No need to decide now

You don't have to choose a printed version on day one. Start the card, send the link round and let the messages come in. When you're ready, the card's organiser can order a Classic card or Keepsake book from the card's page, before or after the digital card is sent.

Collect the messages first, then give them something to keep long after the leaving drinks or the birthday cake.

Everything you need to know

Yes. Any ExpressWithACard group card or board can be printed as a Classic card or an A5 Keepsake book. It’s an extra on top of your digital card, not a replacement for it.

A Classic card is a folded 7 × 5 inch greeting card with the messages that fit, plus a QR code to view the full digital card.

A Keepsake book is an A5 softcover with much more room: the messages and photos that fit, with a QR code on the back to view the full digital card. As a rule of thumb, smaller groups suit the Classic card and big groups suit the book.

If you’re working to a birthday, leaving date or other occasion, leave time for printing and delivery, and check the delivery estimate shown when you order.

The Classic card prints the messages that fit, and the QR code on its back opens the full digital card so the rest can still be read.

If you’re expecting a lot of messages, a Keepsake book gives you far more room.

The printed book has a page limit. Messages beyond it aren’t printed, but they’re all in the digital card, which the QR code on the back cover opens. Not everything may appear in print, but it’s all still there.
